What a map shows
Skills with a map show how they work under How it works, on the skill's page. For each step, the map shows:
- who does it: your AI, you, or someone else, like your customer;
- the app it uses, like your email or calendar, and whether that step is connected or copy-ready;
- where it stops and waits for you. A red tag shows each stop: "Your yes", "Only you", or the last button you press yourself;
- when it happens: today, on a later day, or only when you ask.
Above the steps, "Apps it can use" shows each kind of app the skill can use, and the app the map is shown with.
Connected or copy-ready
A step is connected when your AI app can reach that app for you, once you've connected it. It reads what it needs, or saves things there after your yes.
A step is copy-ready when you get the words, dates or rows ready to paste in yourself. A copy-ready step has a dashed edge and says "copy-ready". A step is copy-ready when:
- the skill only reads that app (for example, it writes the email for you to send);
- your AI app can't connect to that app, or can read it but can't make changes there;
- we haven't checked yet whether your AI app can connect to it;
- you chose an app the skill doesn't name, or no app of that kind.
The map never guesses. When we haven't checked something, the map says so and shows the copy-ready way. Every skill still works from what you paste or upload.
Five ways to see it
Under "Show it as", pick the way that suits you. They all show the same steps.
| Look | Good for |
|---|---|
| Storyboard | A scene card for each step, with who does it and where it stops for you |
| Swimlanes | Who does what: you, your AI, your apps and other people, each in a lane |
| Transit map | One line from start to finish, with every stop and the apps it branches to |
| Timeline | What happens and when: today, then each day after |
| Hub and spoke | The skill in the middle, and every app and person it works with around it |
Signed in, the next map opens the way you last looked at one, or the way you chose in My apps and maps. Not signed in? Choose "Always show maps this way".
Every map also has the steps written out in words, under "The steps in words". That's the version screen readers read.
A step up close
Under each step in words, open More about this step to see what it reads and writes, who sees it, where it stops, and how it would run with each app you could pick.
Your apps
Tell Trilly the apps you use once, in My apps and maps, and every map fills in with them. You can pick a different app for one skill on its page. How your apps work.
How Trilly checks a map
Trilly checks every map against the skill's own files before it shows: the steps, the apps, the stops and the days. A map that says more than the skill does is sent back. If a map is ever wrong, Trilly takes it down while we check it, and the page shows the apps the skill can use instead.
What each AI app can connect to comes from the app makers' own pages, and the line under each map says when we last checked. Connected apps and browser helpers
