How selling on Trilly works

What a maker gets from an A$29 sale

Commission by tier: New maker and Rising 25%, Established 20%, Top maker 15%. Your tier comes from real use and verified reviews. Sales through your own referral link: 12%, whatever your tier.

In every example below, the price is A$29.00, the card fees are A$0.78 and the payout fee is 0.25%.

What a maker gets from an A$29 sale paid with an Australian card
WhoPriceCard feesPayout feeTrilly's commissionMaker gets
New maker and Rising A$29.00 A$0.78 A$0.05 A$7.25 (25%) A$20.92

Established A$29.00 A$0.78 A$0.05 A$5.80 (20%) A$22.37

Top maker A$29.00 A$0.78 A$0.05 A$4.35 (15%) A$23.82

Sold through your own link A$29.00 A$0.78 A$0.06 A$3.48 (12%) A$24.68
at least A$24.14 with an overseas card

Card fees are Stripe's, passed on at cost: 1.65% + 30c for Australian cards and up to 3.5% + 30c for cards from overseas, plus 0.7% on monthly skills. They come out of the maker's share, never on top of the price, and every sale shows them. So are Stripe's payout fees (0.25%, and A$2.25 a month). The lowest price for a paid skill is A$9.00.

If a buyer gets a refund, Trilly gives back its commission and the rest comes back from the maker's share. Stripe doesn't return its card fee.

Questions makers ask (8)
How much does Trilly take from a sale?

Our commission is 25% to start, down to 15% as you grow. Sales a maker brings in through their own link cost 12%, whatever their tier. On an A$29 skill paid with an Australian card, the maker gets A$20.92.

Can I keep more than that?

Yes. As more people use and keep your skills you move up a tier, and our commission drops to 15% at Top maker. Sales you bring in through your own link cost 12%, whatever your tier.

Who pays the card fees?

The maker, at cost. Stripe charges 1.65% + 30c for Australian cards and up to 3.5% + 30c for cards from overseas, plus 0.7% on monthly skills. It comes out of the maker's share, never on top of the price, and every sale shows it.

Do makers pay to sell?

Publishing free skills is free: the Free plan includes 1 skill and 1 reviewed version a month. Selling paid skills needs the Maker plan: A$49 a month or A$490 a year (two months free). Payouts need you to be based in Australia, with an Australian bank account, for now. Your free skills are live everywhere.

What happens to the fees when a buyer gets a refund?

Trilly gives back its commission, and the rest comes back from the maker's share. Stripe doesn't return its card fee, so it stays a cost of that sale.

What's the lowest price for a paid skill?

A$9.00.

What if I need more reviews in a month?

Every version you upload goes through our safety review. An extra review is A$19. Higher maker tiers add extra skill slots and storage on any plan.

Will I get a statement of what I earned?

Yes. Each month with sales, refunds or payouts, we email you a statement of what you earned and what Stripe paid to your bank, each currency on its own. Every sale is on your earnings page too, with a CSV for your records.

Questions people ask

Why pay for a skill when my AI is free to ask?

A skill gives your AI an expert's know-how for one job: the steps, the checks and the rules. Trilly tests skills against a well-prompted AI, and a tested skill's page shows how it did. Many skills are free, and each paid one shows its price before you add it.

Does it cost anything to use Trilly?

No. Making an account, browsing and adding free skills costs nothing. You only pay for a paid skill, and you see the price before you pay.

Who sets the price of a paid skill?

Its maker. The skill's page shows the price, and whether it's one-off, monthly or yearly, before you add it. For Trilly's own skills (Trilly Originals) that's Trilly, and a team buying seats pays less as it buys more: 10% off from 10 seats, 20% from 50 and 30% from 200.

Can I cancel a monthly or yearly skill?

Yes, any time. You keep it until the month or year you paid for ends. We remind you 30 days before a yearly skill renews.

What currency are prices in?

Skills are priced in Australian dollars (A$). Paid skills are sold worldwide, and free skills work everywhere. Your bank sets the final amount in your currency. The price you see is the full price.

Start free, whoever you're buying for.
