Start with the one-minute test in Is my skill working?: one request that shows whether the skill loaded. Then find your app below for its quick checks.

Claude

  1. Is it switched on? Open Customize, then Skills, and check the skill's switch is on.
  2. Ask for it by name. Type / and choose the skill, or ask Claude to use it by its name.
  3. Added the right way? If you linked Claude to Trilly, ask Claude to list your Trilly skills; if it can't, link Claude again. If you uploaded a .zip, check it shows in Customize, Skills, and upload a fresh copy if not.

ChatGPT

  1. Is it switched on? Open Plugins, then the Skills tab, and check the skill is there.
  2. Ask for it by name. Type @ and choose the skill.
  3. Your plan and settings. Skill uploads need a workspace plan, and your admin must allow skill uploading. Unpersonalised temporary chats skip plugins; personalised ones (the default) use them.

Gemini

  1. Is it switched on? Open Customize, then Skills.
  2. Ask for it by name. Type / and choose the skill.
  3. Your account. Skills need a Google account for someone 18 or over, with Keep Activity on. Work and school accounts get skills from 13 October 2026.

Microsoft 365 Copilot

  1. Use the right agent. In Copilot, skills live inside an agent. Open Agents & Skills and choose the agent you added it to.
  2. Ask that agent, by name. Say what you need and name the skill.
  3. Your organisation. Skills in Copilot are in Microsoft's Frontier preview for now, so your IT team may need to turn them on.

Other apps

  • Mistral Vibe: check the skill is in Context, then Skills, and ask for it by name.
  • Perplexity: check the skill is added in Perplexity Computer, and ask for it by name.

Coding tools

  • Is the folder in the right place? These apps only look in certain folders, and the folder must keep the name Trilly gave it. Copilot's command-line tool doesn't read ~/.claude/skills, and only ~/.cursor/skills reaches Cursor's Cloud Agents. Each app guide lists the folders.
  • Did you restart? Cursor looks for skills when it starts. Codex and Claude Code usually notice new skills, but a restart helps if they don't.
  • Call it by name. Type / and choose the skill (in Codex, type $).

Still not working?

  • Are you on the latest version? Your library shows when an update is out. Download it and add it again.
  • Did the upload fail? Claude rejects a .zip that was unzipped and zipped again. Gemini doesn't take Word or Excel files. Download a fresh copy.
  • Is your app supported? Each skill page offers a copy for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and the coding apps, and marks the apps it was tested in. A skill can behave a little differently from one app to another.
  • At work? On Claude Team and Enterprise plans an Owner controls skills and code execution, and only an Owner can add a custom connector such as Trilly. Some organisations block skills or only allow plugins: ask your IT team.

Tell the maker

Press "Send feedback to the maker" on the skill's page (it's there once the skill is in your library), or ask your AI to send feedback if it's linked to Trilly. Makers see every message, not your name or email, and how fast they reply and fix things is shown publicly on their skills. If a paid skill doesn't do what its listing says, you may be able to get your money back: see refunds.

If something seems unsafe

Stop using the skill, switch it off, and report it.
