Ranked by real use
Once 10 copies first used a month or two ago show whether people kept it.
Then
Worldwide skills
Then the rest, worldwide skills before country editions.
Then
The newest
Within each, the most recently listed first.
On each pageSkills you can add today come before paid ones that aren't on sale yet.
Your countryChoose where you are under "Works in": worldwide skills and that country's editions, ranked first, then the newest.
Show firstOnce skills are ranked, you can sort by Most kept or Top rated. Those sorts use the plain figures; the ranked lists below use the careful sums.
Find a skillThe same order as a job's page, with the skills that use your apps first.
Home page job tabsTrilly's own skills that beat a well-prompted AI in its test, never 18+. First those 20 or more people used in the last 30 days, then any not about safeguarding or a crisis, then the most test runs right, then the fewest right for the well-prompted AI, then the newest test.
Name row and Browse menuThe home's moving row of names and the Browse menu show skills that beat a well-prompted AI, never 18+: worldwide first, then the newest test. The row never names a safeguarding or crisis job's skill. The menu's big card puts everyday jobs before specialist ones.
Search
A search result's place
Words few skills use count more than words most skills use. A skill that matches too little of what you asked isn't shown.
Where your words count mostThe name, then the job it's for, what people ask it (its Try asking), its one line, its area, the maker and the description.
Words that mean the sameSearch "taxes" and it also looks for VAT and sales tax. "Sacked" finds unfair dismissal and "rota" finds rosters. They count a little less than your own words.
SpellingA word of 4 letters or more that Trilly doesn't know is also searched as the closest word in the catalogue.
The ranked lists
- Best for a job and skills for a task
- By rank. Only skills with at least 20 copies that report back are ranked; newer ones show apart as "too new to rank".
- Trending
- People using it in the last 7 days against the 7 days before, with 20 added to last week's count, so 2 people to 8 isn't a leap. It needs 10 people this week.
- Top rated
- Verified reviews only, averaged with 10 typical reviews at the site's average. It needs 5 reviews.
- Most kept
- At least 20 copies that report back, ordered by how sure we can be of the keep rate, so 7 in 10 of 2,000 beats 8 in 10 of 20.
- New
- Every skill first listed in the last 60 days, newest first.

Picked for you
Signed in, your home page picks skills for you from the jobs you chose, what people like you use and the makers you follow. Never one you already have.
What counts, strongest first
- A job you said you want help with
- Skills used by people who use what you use, only when at least 5 people share both
- An area you picked
- A maker you follow
- How well it works for everyone
Picks are spread across makers, and each one says why it's there.
Today on Trilly
Makers' launches, ordered by members' up-votes that day. Trilly's own are listed apart and never ranked.
Who can up-vote, and when it closes
- One up-vote each
- One up-vote a member a launch, from your second day on Trilly.
- Who can't up-vote
- The maker, their maker team and anyone on the team of the company that made it. People at Trilly can't up-vote Trilly's own.
- When it closes
- The day runs on Melbourne time, where Trilly is based. At midnight the board is final.
Staff picks and collections
Who picks them, and how collections are ordered
Staff picksOn Today, a person at Trilly chose each one, and it says who picked it and why. A collection Trilly picked says "Picked by Trilly".
CollectionsPeople's public collections come after the ones Trilly picked, ordered by how many people use their skills.
What never moves a skill
Money, the maker's plan, or faked use
MoneyThere are no paid, sponsored or featured places.
The maker's planStudio and Pro Maker come with priority review: their new versions are checked sooner. That never moves a skill in a list.
Faked useUse, reviews and recommends that look faked are held out while Trilly checks them. A skill whose faked use Trilly confirms can be held at the bottom for a while.
Questions people ask
Can a maker pay to rank higher?
No. No plan, fee or deal moves a skill up a list or onto one. A paid maker plan gets priority review, so its new versions are checked sooner. That doesn't change where a skill shows.
Why are most skills shown newest first?
A skill is ranked once enough people's copies have reported how it's going. Until then nobody can tell which works best, so worldwide skills come first, newest first, and the list says so.
How do I change what's picked for me?
Choose the jobs and areas you care about in Settings, under what you're interested in. Following a maker, or adding skills, changes your picks too.
