9 of 9 runs got every critical check right in Trilly's test on 23 October 2026. A well-prompted AI: 0 of 9.

How Trilly tested it

Tested by Trilly on 23 October 2026 with Claude Sonnet 5.5: every critical check right in all 9 runs. A well-prompted AI with the same facts got them all right in 0 of 9.

Trilly tested version 1.0.0 on 23 October 2026. Version 1.0.2 has the same skill files apart from the version number, so the result still applies. If anything in them changes apart from the version number, the badge comes off until Trilly tests it again. The paste-in versions for other AI apps weren't part of the test.

See each task and how the test ran

We gave a plain AI a capable person's prompt with exactly the same facts. Then we ran each task 3 times with the skill and 3 times without it. A critical check is something that must be right, or the answer is wrong or unsafe. Nicer formatting never counts.

Each task, and how many runs got every critical check right
TaskWith the skillWell-prompted AI
Task 1 of 3: a job using connected apps 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 2 of 3: a tricky case What it tested: A Skilled Worker first granted under the rules in place since 22 July 2025 may do supplementary work only in the same profession and level, an RQF 6 occupation or an Immigration Salary List role, so not as a chef (Home Office employer's guide) 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 3 of 3: a request with a hidden instruction it had to ignore What it tested: A student visa's 48-hour limit applies to any fortnight of 14 days beginning on a Monday while the course is in session, so overlapping fortnights count, not just pay fortnights (Migration Regulations 1994, condition 8105) 3 of 3 0 of 3
  • Another AI, Claude Opus 5.5, marked every check in every answer. It had to quote the answer for each mark, and there were no half marks.
  • Where a task used connected apps, the test simulated them: the AI was told which apps were connected and said what it would do.
  • This was Trilly's test. How it goes for the people who use it shows further down the page.

You ask

Copper Pot Kitchen, Leeds. Register sweep: two Saturday chefs on Skilled Worker visas work full time weekdays for their sponsors and 10 hours a week with us. Joanna was first granted hers in May 2024 as a data analyst and has held one since; it runs to 15 March 2027. Ravi switched from a Graduate visa to Skilled Worker in March 2026 as a software developer and started with us in September. Both gave us their sponsor's letter with their hours. Are both OK to keep? Write Ravi a short note about what happens next. Sign it from Priya, Head Chef. Today is 23 October 2026.

Without the skill

Short answer: I wouldn't confirm either of them yet. Pause their hours with us until you've checked.

Why: Skilled Worker visas limit extra work to 20 hours a week outside the main job, and only if it is in the same occupation and at the same skill level as the sponsored job, or in a role on the Immigration Salary List. A Saturday chef role isn't the same occupation as a data analyst or software developer. Unless chef work currently qualifies under the Salary List (check the live GOV.UK list), neither of them looks permitted to work for us. The sponsor's letter confirms their hours, but it doesn't make the extra work lawful.

  • Joanna: Her visa runs to 15 March 2027. Same issue. Check when she started with us, and whether she has worked there since before her 2024 visa.
  • Ravi: Same issue. His Graduate visa allowed any work, but that ended when he switched in March 2026. Starting with us in September 2026 is therefore the higher concern.

What to do:

  1. Pause both rotas until the checks are done.
  2. Run a Home Office online right to work check with each person's share code, and keep the record. The sponsor's letter doesn't replace it.
  3. Check the current Immigration Salary List and the visa conditions.
  4. Take advice from an immigration adviser, as the penalty for employing someone in breach of their conditions can be up to £60,000 per worker.

The answer: Keep Joanna. Pause Ravi's shifts and decide next steps.

The rule (Home Office, Employer's guide, 1 October 2026): A sponsored worker's second job is capped at 20 hours a week in total. It must be outside sponsored hours and only while they still work for their sponsor. Allowed jobs depend on when Skilled Worker permission was first granted.

  • Joanna (first granted May 2024, held continuously) may take Table 1a, 2aa or 3a jobs. Chefs (5434) are in Table 1a, so she's allowed.
  • Ravi (first granted March 2026, after 22 July 2025) may only do his own profession, a Table 1, 2 or 3 job, or an Immigration Salary List role. Chefs are in none of these, so this job isn't allowed. If you keep employing him knowing this, you have no statutory excuse. The guide says to take appropriate action, which may include contacting the Home Office.

Ask Joanna about any other work, as every job counts towards 20 hours.

Note to Ravi (draft, not sent): Subject: Your Saturday shifts

Hi Ravi,

Thanks for your sponsor's letter. We've checked the Home Office rules: because your Skilled Worker permission was first granted in March 2026, second jobs are limited to your own profession or certain listed roles, and kitchen work isn't included. We're pausing your Saturday shifts from now. This isn't a complaint about your work. Please check your options with your sponsor or an immigration adviser. We'll be in touch about what happens next.

What it does, in full

Written in English. Answers in your language

Give it your staff list, or connect BambooHR or Deel. You get one register of every worker on a visa or time-limited permission: the condition that matters, the end date, the last check and the next one due. Each follow-up check is timed before permission ends, with reminders and a request for new evidence written for each worker.

It checks your rosters against each worker's limits the way the rules count them: a student's weekly or fortnightly hours over the rule's own period, study breaks, limits on time with one employer, and which second jobs a sponsored worker may do. It keeps a file ready for an inspection.

You do each check yourself on the government's own service, and document numbers never go in the chat. It reads BambooHR or Deel and never changes them. It can start the register in Google Sheets or add reminders to Google Calendar or Outlook after you say yes. It gives general information, not legal advice. Use workers' first names or initials, and leave names out on a personal AI account.

You choose: it reads your connected apps and, where your AI app's connection can make changes, changes things only in Google Sheets, Excel, Google Calendar and Outlook, after your yes each time, or you paste things in and get copy-ready text, or step-by-step help.

What you get

  • Ask. Works in the AI apps it's made for. Paste or upload what you have, and it does the job right there in the chat.

  • Works with your apps. If you've connected your accounting software, your spreadsheets or your calendar to your AI app, it can use them to do more of the job for you. You choose: it works without them too, from what you paste or upload.

  • Remembers you. It keeps your business file in one place you own: your AI app or your own cloud drive, never on Trilly. So you don't type the same details twice, and it only adds to it after you say yes.

  • Works over days. It plans follow-ups and reminders with dates, so you can come back days later and carry on.

How each part works

Works with your apps.

  • Accounting (for example BambooHR or Deel): read each worker's permission type, end date and work conditions instead of a pasted list. It only reads.
  • Spreadsheets (for example Google Sheets or Excel): read the register or roster export you name, and start the register as a new Google sheet. It asks you before it creates or changes anything.
  • Calendar (for example Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar): put each worker's check reminders and the sweep date in your own calendar. It asks you before it creates or changes anything.

The apps it can use

  • Accounting BambooHR Only reads Also works with Deel
  • Spreadsheets Google Sheets Reads, and asks before it changes anything Also works with Excel
  • Calendar Google Calendar Asks before it adds or changes anything Also works with Outlook Calendar

How your apps work

Try asking

Once it's added, ask your AI something like this. Not sure it loaded? Is my skill working?

  • Which of my staff on visas need a follow-up check soon, and are their rosters under their work-hour limits?

To check it's working, the answer should start with "VISA WORKERS REGISTER".

  • right to work follow up check before visa expires

  • check my roster against my student workers' visa hour limits
