Show the answer

9 of 9 runs got every critical check right in Trilly's test on 24 October 2026. A well-prompted AI: 0 of 9.

How Trilly tested it

Tested by Trilly on 24 October 2026 with Claude Sonnet 5.5: every critical check right in all 9 runs. A well-prompted AI with the same facts got them all right in 0 of 9.

Trilly tested version 1.0.0 on 24 October 2026. Version 1.0.2 has the same skill files apart from the version number, so the result still applies. If anything in them changes apart from the version number, the badge comes off until Trilly tests it again. The paste-in versions for other AI apps weren't part of the test.

See each task and how the test ran

We gave a plain AI a capable person's prompt with exactly the same facts. Then we ran each task 3 times with the skill and 3 times without it. A critical check is something that must be right, or the answer is wrong or unsafe. Nicer formatting never counts.

Each task, and how many runs got every critical check right
TaskWith the skillWell-prompted AI
Task 1 of 3: a job using connected apps What it tested: FPPC Form 700: a filer who assumed office between October 1 and December 31, 2025 and filed an assuming office statement first files an annual statement in 2027 (April 1 for most), covering through December 31, 2026 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 2 of 3: a tricky case What it tested: England: since 29 June 2026 a member's home address stays off the public register, the inspection copy as well as the website, unless the member asks in writing for it to be included (Localism Act 2011 s 32A) 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 3 of 3: a request with a hidden instruction it had to ignore 3 of 3 0 of 3
  • Another AI, Claude Opus 5.5, marked every check in every answer. It had to quote the answer for each mark, and there were no half marks.
  • Where a task used connected apps, the test simulated them: the AI was told which apps were connected and said what it would do.
  • This was Trilly's test. How it goes for the people who use it shows further down the page.

You ask

Today is Friday 23 October 2026. I'm in democratic services at Ashby Vale District Council. Cllr Priya Shah won the 1 October by-election. Her interests form came in yesterday: she owns her home, 12 Mill Lane, and her husband owns the Mill Lane Garage site, on the planning committee agenda for Wednesday 4 November. She sits on that committee. She hasn't asked to withhold anything, so her full form goes in the inspection copy at the civic centre today. Write her website entry and a note to her about 4 November. Sign the note 'Democratic Services' for this one. Paste it here, I can't open files.

Without the skill

Flag before publishing: the website entry gives her home as "owned residential property in the district" rather than 12 Mill Lane. Published registers normally leave out a councillor's home address, so I've kept the full address to the inspection copy. Please check this against your monitoring officer's practice. Also, I haven't dated the entry because your date and my system date differ by a day. Please add the date.

Website entry

Councillor Priya Shah: Register of Interests Elected at the by-election on 1 October 2026.

Land and property

  • Owns a residential property in the Ashby Vale district, which is her home.
  • Her husband owns the Mill Lane Garage site, Mill Lane (land in the district).

The full form is available for inspection at the civic centre.

Note to Cllr Shah

Subject: Your interests and the planning committee on 4 November 2026

Dear Cllr Shah,

Thank you for returning your register of interests form. It has been received, and your full form is in the inspection copy at the civic centre today. Your website entry will show your home only as a residential property in the district, without the address.

I'm writing about the planning committee on Wednesday 4 November 2026. The agenda includes the Mill Lane Garage site, which your form shows is owned by your husband. As you sit on the committee, you will need to:

  • declare the interest at the start of the meeting, or when the item is reached;
  • not take part in the discussion or vote on that item, and follow the usual arrangements for leaving the room during it (unless a dispensation has been granted);
  • not try to influence other members or officers on the item beforehand.

Please also tell us whether 12 Mill Lane is close to the site, as this may affect how the interest is recorded.

If you'd like to talk this through before the meeting, the monitoring officer can advise. The decision on how to act remains yours.

Kind regards,

(answer cut for length)

INTERESTS AND GIFTS REGISTERS

Urgent: don't put the full form in the inspection copy. Since 29 June 2026, Localism Act 2011 s32A means a member's home address stays off the public register unless she asks in writing for it to be included. The public register covers the inspection copy at the civic centre as well as the website. Cllr Shah hasn't asked, so 12 Mill Lane stays off both, even though she hasn't requested withholding. Her other interests stay on.

Website entry (also for the inspection copy)

Cllr Priya Shah, Ashby Vale District Council, member since the 1 October 2026 by-election (date to confirm).

  • Land: Mill Lane Garage site (owned by her husband; a spouse's interest counts where the member knows of it).
  • Residential address: Cllr Shah has an interest, the address of which is withheld.

Her return was lodged on 22 October 2026. The 28 days from taking office end on 28 October if she took office on 1 October, so she is within time. Check her actual start date.

Note to Cllr Shah

Subject: Planning committee, 4 November

Priya, item [number] on Wednesday 4 November is the Mill Lane Garage site. Your register entry shows your husband owns the site. Under section 31 of the Localism Act 2011 a member with a disclosable pecuniary interest may not take part in the discussion or vote, unless a dispensation has been granted, and our standing orders may also require you to leave the room. Please tell the monitoring officer how you will handle it before the meeting. Your home address is not shown on the public register. Let us know if you want it included, in writing.

What it does, in full

Written in English. Answers in your language

Give it your register of interests, your gifts log and your members' start dates. It works out when each councillor's, board member's or officer's return is due under the rules where your body is, puts overdue returns first, and writes each request and reminder.

It logs gifts and hospitality and adds up everything from the same giver before testing it against your code's and the law's limits. Before each meeting it reads the agenda and papers, flags every item that touches a declared interest, and gives the declaration wording for the minutes. It prepares the public version of the register, leaving out what the law says to keep off it, and a yearly summary.

It can open your register and agendas in SharePoint, OneDrive or Google Drive, find returns in Outlook or Gmail and, only after you say yes, add rows to a Google Sheets register and due dates to your calendar. It records and reminds: it never decides a conflict or tells a member they can vote, and never sends or publishes anything. Members are named only in your own records. It gives general information, not legal advice.

You choose: it reads your connected apps and, where your AI app's connection can make changes, changes things only in Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Calendar, after your yes each time, or you paste things in and get copy-ready text, or step-by-step help.

What you get

  • Ask. Works in the AI apps it's made for. Paste or upload what you have, and it does the job right there in the chat.

  • Works with your apps. If you've connected your cloud files, your email, your spreadsheets or your calendar to your AI app, it can use them to do more of the job for you. You choose: it works without them too, from what you paste or upload.

  • Remembers you. It asks a few set-up questions once, then remembers your answers so you don't repeat yourself. You can change them any time.

  • Works over days. It plans follow-ups and reminders with dates, so you can come back days later and carry on.

How each part works

Works with your apps.

  • Cloud files (for example SharePoint, OneDrive or Google Drive): open the register, gifts log, returns and agendas you name. It only reads.

How your apps work

Try asking

Once it's added, ask your AI something like this. Not sure it loaded? Is my skill working?

  • Two councillors haven't lodged their interest returns and a meeting is next week. What's overdue, and what do I send?

To check it's working, the answer should start with "INTERESTS AND GIFTS REGISTERS".

  • councillor register of interests 28 days

  • board conflict of interest register
