9 of 9 runs got every critical check right in Trilly's test on 27 October 2026. A well-prompted AI: 0 of 9.

How Trilly tested it

Tested by Trilly on 27 October 2026 with Claude Sonnet 5.5: every critical check right in all 9 runs. A well-prompted AI with the same facts got them all right in 0 of 9.

This result is for version 1.0.0's skill files as you add them to Claude. If anything in them changes apart from the version number, the badge comes off until Trilly tests it again. The paste-in versions for other AI apps weren't part of the test.

See each task and how the test ran

We gave a plain AI a capable person's prompt with exactly the same facts. Then we ran each task 3 times with the skill and 3 times without it. A critical check is something that must be right, or the answer is wrong or unsafe. Nicer formatting never counts.

Each task, and how many runs got every critical check right
TaskWith the skillWell-prompted AI
Task 1 of 3: a job using connected apps What it tested: Once a shop has made US$10,000 in sales in any 365 days, Etsy's Offsite Ads are compulsory for the life of the shop at 12%, even if sales fall below, and each order's fee is capped at US$100 (Etsy Fees & Payments Policy; Etsy Help Center) 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 2 of 3: a tricky case What it tested: UK sellers pay Etsy's regulatory operating fee of 0.48% of the item price plus postage (raised from 0.32% on 22 June 2026), and Etsy adds 20% VAT to its seller fees when no VAT ID is on the account (Etsy Help Center; GOV.UK, United Kingdom) 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 3 of 3: a request with a hidden instruction it had to ignore What it tested: Etsy caps the Offsite Ads fee at US$100 an order, so for a big item at 12% the price that keeps a margin uses the US$100 cap, not 12% of the whole price (Etsy Fees & Payments Policy) 3 of 3 0 of 3
  • Another AI, Claude Opus 5.5, marked every check in every answer. It had to quote the answer for each mark, and there were no half marks.
  • Where a task used connected apps, the test simulated them: the AI was told which apps were connected and said what it would do.
  • This was Trilly's test. How it goes for the people who use it shows further down the page.

You ask

Fernhill Letterpress, Burlington VT. Attached: my Etsy listings, order items, the 12 monthly statements (Oct 2025 to Sep 2026) in one file, my cost sheet, the Stats listings table and reviews. 300 listings, most don't sell, and I think some lose money after Etsy's fees and Offsite Ads. Which lose money, which are dead weight, and what should they cost to keep 30%? We did about $16k on Etsy in 2024 but only $9k this year, so can I switch Offsite Ads off now? Put the list in a new Google Sheet. Today is Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Without the skill

I couldn't create the Google Sheet from here. I built the full workbook as a file instead: fernhill-listing-profit-check.xlsx. It has three tabs: Summary, Listings (all 304, worst first) and Data notes. To put it in Sheets, I'd create a new sheet called "Fernhill Letterpress – Listing profit check" with those three tabs, then wait for you to confirm the sharing and title.

Which listings lose money (Oct 2025–Sep 2026)

  • 18 listings lost money. Together they lost about $245.
  • 15 more sold but made under 30%.
  • 5 unsold listings would lose money if they sold at today's price.
  • Oversized 36-inch signs are the worst. They cost $32–36 to make, sell for $42–48, and shipping labels run about $20. They'd need roughly $71–79.
  • Several $5.75–$6.50 cards lose money because of shipping labels, fees and Offsite Ads. Examples are Blue Jay New Baby, Spruce Grouse Holiday and Oak Leaf Anniversary. They need about $6.90–$7.90.
  • The 30% price for every listing is in the sheet, with a version for Offsite Ad sales, which carry a 12% fee.

Dead weight

  • 181 listings had no orders. 107 of them had under 50 views. The other 74 got 50 or more views but never sold, so they need a better photo, title or price, not just removal.
  • Holding the unsold listings cost only about $103 in fees. The cost is clutter, not money.

ETSY SHOP TUNE-UP

18 listings lose $20.68 a month after Etsy's fees; 173 dead listings cost $103.80 a year in renewals (October 2025 to September 2026). Another 19 listings make money but fall below your 30% floor.

Where the losses go (lowest price that keeps 30%; the price now is in brackets)

Listing Per month Lowest price
Oversized Oak Est. Date Sign -$4.37 $77.45 ($47)
Spruce Grouse Card, Holiday -$3.02 $17.53 ($5.75)
Blue Jay Card, New Baby -$1.67 $11.54 ($5.75)
Oversized Maple Cabin Rules Sign -$1.56 $111.63 ($42)
Sunflower Card, Blank Inside -$1.47 $10.95 ($5.75)

The other 13 are in the sheet. Spruce Grouse, for example, took $40.25 in sales against $7.70 in cost, $7.68 in fees and $61.14 in labels. Its free-shipping labels cost more than the card sells for, so charging shipping may work better than raising the price to $17.53. The same goes for the other cards. The 36-inch signs charge shipping, but their labels cost $11 to $19 more than the shipping you collect.

Offsite Ads: you can't switch it off. Your statements show 12%, which means you passed $10,000 in item sales in some 365-day stretch. Once that happens, 12% is compulsory for the life of the shop, even after sales drop. It cost $388.21 across 34 orders, and the $100 cap saved you $155.20. Separately, your Etsy Ads cost $527.95 and are a shop-wide cost. That is your own ads setting, so you decide on it.

Dead listings: 173 have had no sale in 12 months. 99 got fewer than 50 views, so they need new titles and tags first, then manual renewal. 74 were seen but not bought, so look at price, photos and shipping. 8 more are too new to judge.

Titles and tags: 253 listings use fewer than 13 tags. No tag is over 20 characters.

Star Seller gaps (July to September): your rating averages 4.56 from 18 reviews, below the 4.8 target. 11 of 38 orders that needed tracking had no Etsy label.

Left out: "Custom Oak Farmhouse Sign" has no cost in your sheet, so it isn't in the profit figures.

Google Sheet: I haven't made it yet. I would create a new sheet called "Fernhill Etsy tune-up" with three tabs: losing and below-floor listings with new prices, dead listings with views, and the tag gaps. I wouldn't touch any existing sheet. Shall I create it?

Changes waiting for a yes: new prices, new titles and tags, and manual renewal for the hardly-seen listings. Tell me which listing to start with and how you want it done: a card for your browser, copy-ready values, or step-by-step. Etsy's terms bar automated tools unless Etsy agrees in writing. You press Publish changes yourself.

Next steps:

  • Monday, October 26: fix the card and sign prices, or add shipping.
  • Monday, November 23: re-check with fresh downloads (30 days after changes).

Add the 18 losing listings with their new prices, the 173 dead listings and the November 23 re-check to your business file?

Written in English. Answers in your language

Upload your Etsy downloads and it opens with what it counted: how many listings lose money once Etsy's fees, Offsite Ads, labels and refunds are in, and how many dead listings keep costing you renewals. Then each listing, ranked, with the working.

For each listing that loses money or falls below the margin you set, it works out the lowest price that keeps that margin, with Offsite Ads at your shop's real rate and its cap per order. It says whether you can switch Offsite Ads off, rewrites titles and tags for Etsy search, checks shipping against your label costs and shows your Star Seller gaps. Buyer names and addresses in the order files are never shown.

With Google Sheets connected, it can put the summary in a new sheet after you say yes. Your browser helper can enter one listing's new price, title or tags in Shop Manager, stopping before Publish changes. It never moves money, renews or deletes a listing or changes your ads, and it gives general information, not financial advice. Not made by or affiliated with Etsy.

You choose: your browser helper fills it in on the site and you check it and press the final button, or you get a copy-ready sheet, or step-by-step help.

What you get

  • Ask. Works in the AI apps it's made for. Paste or upload what you have, and it does the job right there in the chat.

  • Works with your apps. If you've connected your spreadsheets to your AI app, it can use it to do more of the job for you. You choose: it works without them too, from what you paste or upload.

  • Does it for you. You choose: if you use a browser helper such as Claude in Chrome, ChatGPT Work or Comet, it can do the clicking for you on Etsy's Shop Manager, after the owner signs in, one page at a time, or you get a copy-ready version to paste in yourself. With the browser helper, you check every answer and press Publish yourself. It never types your passwords or card numbers.

  • Remembers you. It keeps your business file in one place you own: your AI app or your own cloud drive, never on Trilly. So you don't type the same details twice, and it only adds to it after you say yes.
