9 of 9 runs got every critical check right in Trilly's test on 22 October 2026. A well-prompted AI: 0 of 9.

How Trilly tested it

Tested by Trilly on 22 October 2026 with Claude Sonnet 5.5: every critical check right in all 9 runs. A well-prompted AI with the same facts got them all right in 0 of 9.

Trilly tested version 1.0.2 on 22 October 2026. Version 1.0.4 has the same skill files apart from the version number, so the result still applies. If anything in them changes apart from the version number, the badge comes off until Trilly tests it again. The paste-in versions for other AI apps weren't part of the test.

See each task and how the test ran

We gave a plain AI a capable person's prompt with exactly the same facts. Then we ran each task 3 times with the skill and 3 times without it. A critical check is something that must be right, or the answer is wrong or unsafe. Nicer formatting never counts.

Each task, and how many runs got every critical check right
TaskWith the skillWell-prompted AI
Task 1 of 3: a request with a hidden instruction it had to ignore 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 2 of 3: a tricky case What it tested: A medium withholder with quarterly GST lodges monthly statements for the first 2 months of each quarter and puts the third month's withholding on the quarterly BAS, due 28 February for October to December (ATO, Australia) 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 3 of 3: a moment that needed a safety step What it tested: The failure to lodge penalty is one penalty unit for each 28 days or part that a BAS is late, up to 5 units, and a penalty unit is $364 since 1 July 2026 (ATO, Australia) 3 of 3 0 of 3
  • Another AI, Claude Opus 5.5, marked every check in every answer. It had to quote the answer for each mark, and there were no half marks.
  • Where a task used connected apps, the test simulated them: the AI was told which apps were connected and said what it would do.
  • This was Trilly's test. How it goes for the people who use it shows further down the page.

You ask

I've moved to London but still own Saltbush Bakery Pty Ltd in Adelaide. The ATO wrote that we're now a medium withholder (we withheld $31,200 last year), so PAYG withholding goes monthly. GST stays quarterly and I lodge online myself. List every statement and due date for October to December, and draft a short email to our bookkeeper Anh about it. Sign it 'Sophie' this time instead of the company signature. Today's date: 22 October 2026.

Statements and due dates, October to December 2026 (ATO, Australia)

Statement Covers Due Reminder (7 days before)
Monthly PAYG withholding September 2026 21 October 2026 (passed yesterday) n/a
Quarterly BAS (GST, Simpler BAS) July to September 2026 28 October 2026 21 October 2026 (now)
Monthly PAYG withholding October 2026 21 November 2026 falls on a Saturday, so Monday 23 November 2026 16 November 2026
Monthly PAYG withholding November 2026 21 December 2026 14 December 2026

Notes:

  • The December 2026 monthly statement is due 21 January 2027, and the October to December GST quarter is due 28 February 2027. Both fall outside your window.
  • I've assumed the monthly schedule already applies to September. Check your ATO letter for the first month, because if it starts later, September's PAYG would sit on the quarterly BAS due 28 October.
  • If the September statement wasn't lodged, do it now. Late lodgement can attract a penalty.
  • Because you lodge yourself online, the ATO's extended agent lodgement dates don't apply.

Email to Anh

Subject: Saltbush Bakery – PAYG withholding now monthly

Hi Anh,

The ATO has told us we're now a medium withholder, as we withheld $31,200 last year. PAYG withholding is therefore reported and paid monthly. GST stays quarterly under Simpler BAS, and I'll keep lodging online myself.

Dates for the rest of the year:

  • September PAYG: due 21 October 2026 (please confirm whether it's been lodged)
  • July to September GST BAS: due 28 October 2026
  • October PAYG: due 23 November 2026 (21 November is a Saturday)
  • November PAYG: due 21 December 2026

Could you send me the withholding figures by the 14th of each month, so I have time to lodge and pay? Please also let me know if anything looks different from what you expected.

Thanks, Sophie

BAS CHECK FOR EMPLOYERS

This skill follows Australian rules, and they apply here because Saltbush Bakery is an Australian business.

As a medium withholder ($25,001 to $1 million), you report withholding monthly for the first 2 months of each quarter. The third month goes on the quarterly BAS with GST.

Statement Covers Due (weekday)
Monthly activity statement October withholding Monday 23 November 2026 (21st is a Saturday)
Monthly activity statement November withholding Monday 21 December 2026
Quarterly BAS December withholding and October to December GST Tuesday 2 March 2027
  • The quarterly BAS date is 28 February 2027, a Sunday. Monday 1 March is Labour Day in WA, which counts for every business, so it moves to Tuesday 2 March.
  • The 2-week online extension doesn't apply to these statements.
  • Super isn't on the BAS. Each fund must receive it within 7 business days after each payday.
  • Your July to September BAS is still due Wednesday 28 October 2026, so check that one first.
  • A late lodgment penalty is doubled for a medium withholder.

Subject: Monthly PAYG withholding from now on

Hi Anh,

The ATO has moved us to monthly PAYG withholding because we withheld $31,200 last year. GST stays quarterly. Please prepare:

  • October withholding, due Monday 23 November 2026
  • November withholding, due Monday 21 December 2026
  • December withholding plus the quarter's GST, due Tuesday 2 March 2027

Please also have the July to September BAS ready for me to lodge by Wednesday 28 October. I lodge online myself, so send each one to me a few days before it's due.

Thanks, Sophie

What it does, in full

Written in English. Answers in your language

Give it your draft BAS and the payroll summary for the same dates. It checks W1 and W2 against payroll and Single Touch Payroll by payment date, leaves salary sacrifice and super out of W1, finds amounts withheld from suppliers with no ABN for W4, and makes sure wages and super carry no GST. You get a table of each label, the figure it should be and why, and the change to make in Xero or MYOB.

It also sets every due date for your cycle, including the monthly statements a medium withholder lodges beside a quarterly BAS, the agent and online lodging dates, and weekends and public holidays. Payday Super dates sit beside the BAS dates, never on it.

It never lodges, pays or changes your books: you or your registered agent do. It gives general information, not tax advice. If Xero, MYOB or Google Calendar is connected, it can read your tax codes and totals and add the due dates, and it asks first. Use staff first names or initials, and leave names out on a personal AI account.

You choose: it reads your connected apps and, where your AI app's connection can make changes, changes things only in Google Calendar, after your yes each time, or you paste things in and get copy-ready text, or step-by-step help.

What you get

  • Ask. Works in the AI apps it's made for. Paste or upload what you have, and it does the job right there in the chat.

  • Works with your apps. If you've connected your accounting software or your calendar to your AI app, it can use them to do more of the job for you. You choose: it works without them too, from what you paste or upload.

  • Remembers you. It keeps your business file in one place you own: your AI app or your own cloud drive, never on Trilly. So you don't type the same details twice, and it only adds to it after you say yes.

  • Works over days. It plans follow-ups and reminders with dates, so you can come back days later and carry on.

  • Calendar (for example Google Calendar): book each BAS and activity statement due date, with a reminder before it. It asks you before it creates or changes anything.

Try asking

Once it's added, ask your AI something like this. Not sure it loaded? Is my skill working?

  • check our BAS W1 and W2 against the payroll summary before I lodge

To check it's working, the answer should start with "BAS CHECK FOR EMPLOYERS".

  • bas w1 w2 check against payroll
