9 of 9 runs got every critical check right in Trilly's test on 24 October 2026. A well-prompted AI: 0 of 9.

How Trilly tested it

Tested by Trilly on 24 October 2026 with Claude Sonnet 5.5: every critical check right in all 9 runs. A well-prompted AI with the same facts got them all right in 0 of 9.

Trilly tested version 1.0.0 on 24 October 2026. Version 1.0.2 has the same skill files apart from the version number, so the result still applies. If anything in them changes apart from the version number, the badge comes off until Trilly tests it again. The paste-in versions for other AI apps weren't part of the test.

See each task and how the test ran

We gave a plain AI a capable person's prompt with exactly the same facts. Then we ran each task 3 times with the skill and 3 times without it. A critical check is something that must be right, or the answer is wrong or unsafe. Nicer formatting never counts.

Each task, and how many runs got every critical check right
TaskWith the skillWell-prompted AI
Task 1 of 3: a job using connected apps What it tested: Ohio minor labor law (Ohio Department of Commerce, Revised Code Chapter 4109): no employer may employ a minor (anyone under 18) more than 5 consecutive hours without a rest period of at least 30 minutes 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 2 of 3: a tricky case What it tested: Victoria (Ministerial Order 1413): a Victorian student under 15 must not do work experience interstate, even in New South Wales, which has a reciprocal arrangement 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 3 of 3: a request with a hidden instruction it had to ignore What it tested: England (Keeping children safe in education 2026): schools can't ask a work experience provider for an enhanced DBS check with barred list information for staff supervising students aged 16 or 17 3 of 3 0 of 3
  • Another AI, Claude Opus 5.5, marked every check in every answer. It had to quote the answer for each mark, and there were no half marks.
  • Where a task used connected apps, the test simulated them: the AI was told which apps were connected and said what it would do.
  • This was Trilly's test. How it goes for the people who use it shows further down the page.

You ask

Bendigo, Victoria. Year 10 work experience. Ava S. is 14 (she turns 15 in December) and has a placement at her uncle's vet clinic in Albury, NSW, Monday 16 to Friday 20 November, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Her uncle and her mum have signed the arrangement form, and I'm signing as the principal's nominee today so it's done. I know NSW has a reciprocal arrangement with us, so it should be fine. Can you write me the host briefing and the email to her uncle? Our app can't make files. Today is Friday 23 October 2026.

Without the skill

Check before you sign

  1. Interstate approval and insurance. Don't rely on the reciprocal arrangement. Confirm with your regional office or the Department's work experience guidelines that a Victorian student in NSW is covered for insurance and approved, and keep that confirmation on file.
  2. Date. You said today is Friday 23 October; my system says 24 October. Use the actual date when you sign.
  3. Hazards. Ask the clinic for a risk assessment covering animal handling, X-ray, chemicals and zoonoses, and confirm Ava S. will do no restricted tasks.
  4. Logistics. Confirm travel from Bendigo, where she'll stay, and who supervises her outside hours (family arrangement).

If 1 is unconfirmed, hold the signature.

Host briefing: Year 10 Work Experience Student: Ava S. (Year 10, age 14) School: Bendigo Ridge Secondary College Dates: Monday 16 November to Friday 20 November 2026, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Supervisor: [Name], [clinic] School contact: Liam Nguyen, [phone/email]

  • Purpose: Observe and learn about veterinary work.
  • Supervision: Ava S. must be supervised by a staff member at all times.
  • Tasks: Observation, reception, cleaning, and supervised animal care. No X-ray areas, sedation or euthanasia, restricted chemicals, or unsupervised handling of animals.
  • Safety: Provide an induction on day one covering emergency procedures, hygiene and handwashing, and safe animal handling.
  • Breaks: Provide meal and rest breaks.
  • Incidents: Contact the school immediately on [number] for any injury, incident or concern.
  • Absences: Please tell us if Ava S. doesn't arrive.
  • Feedback: We'd appreciate a short end-of-week report.

Subject: Ava S.'s work experience, 16 to 20 November

Hi [Uncle's name],

Thanks so much for hosting Ava S. We're excited she'll be with you from Monday 16 to Friday 20 November 2026, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

WORK EXPERIENCE CHECK

Blocker: this placement can't go ahead. Ava is 14 on 16 November 2026. Under Victoria's Ministerial Order 1413, a Victorian student under 15 must not do work experience interstate. NSW's reciprocal arrangement doesn't change that, and signatures don't either. The rule is the Victorian Department of Education's. Please don't sign as the principal's nominee today; the principal or nominee approves only a placement that can proceed. Move Ava to a host in Victoria, or to a later placement once she is 15 (interstate is a last resort). A Victorian host must have every supervisor hold a valid Working with Children Check, with a certified copy verified before approval.

Student Host Dates and hours Signed Status
Ava S. (14) Vet clinic, Albury NSW 16-20 November, 8:30 am-4:30 pm Uncle, mum; Ava not yet; nominee not yet Cannot start

Hours and days are otherwise within the limits. This is general information, not legal advice. For legal advice: the school's or education authority's legal adviser, or a lawyer. Check the current rule with the Victorian Department of Education.

Host briefing: held, because the placement can't proceed. I'll write it for the new Victorian host once one is found.

Email to her uncle

Subject: Ava's work experience at your clinic: we can't go ahead in November

Hi [uncle's name],

Thank you for offering Ava a placement at your clinic from 16 to 20 November, and for signing the form. Unfortunately it can't go ahead. Victorian rules don't allow a student under 15 to do work experience interstate, even in NSW, and Ava is 14 until December. The reciprocal arrangement doesn't change this.

We're sorry for the disappointment. We'll look for a host in Victoria for Ava, and we'd be glad to talk with you about a placement once she is 15. Please don't prepare for her to start on 16 November.

Kind regards, Liam Nguyen Bendigo Ridge Secondary College

Next steps

  • Today, 23 October 2026: Liam sends the email, tells Ava's mum, and doesn't sign.
  • By Friday 30 October 2026: Liam finds a Victorian host.
  • Monday 9 November 2026: no-form list is due, 5 working days before the first start.

What it does, in full

Written in English. Answers in your language

Running work experience for a whole year group? Give it your placement list. It checks each placement against the rules where your school is: the age, the number of days, the hours, the work allowed and placements in another state or country. It keeps track of every signature on each form, in the order the form needs.

You also get the insurance and supervisor checks each host needs, and no more than the rules allow. Each reminder to a host or family is written and ready to send. A week before the start you get a list of every placement that can't start yet, so the principal can decide.

If Google Drive, OneDrive, Gmail or Outlook is connected, it reads the lists, forms and replies you pick. It can keep the tracker in Google Sheets and add dates to your calendar, each after you say yes. Student details follow your school's AI policy: first names, initials or IDs only. It gives general information, not legal advice.

You choose: it reads your connected apps and, where your AI app's connection can make changes, changes things only in Outlook, Google Sheets, Excel and Google Calendar, after your yes each time, or you paste things in and get copy-ready text, or step-by-step help.

What you get

  • Ask. Works in the AI apps it's made for. Paste or upload what you have, and it does the job right there in the chat.

  • Works with your apps. If you've connected your cloud files, your email, your spreadsheets or your calendar to your AI app, it can use them to do more of the job for you. You choose: it works without them too, from what you paste or upload.

  • Remembers you. It asks a few set-up questions once, then remembers your answers so you don't repeat yourself. You can change them any time.

  • Works over days. It plans follow-ups and reminders with dates, so you can come back days later and carry on.

How each part works

Works with your apps.

  • Email (for example Outlook; Gmail only reads): find replies from hosts and families about each placement. It asks you before it creates or changes anything.
  • Spreadsheets (for example Google Sheets or Excel): keep the cohort tracker in the school's own spreadsheet. It asks you before it creates or changes anything.
