Example, shortened, from this skill's page. Someone asks their AI: Business manager at Oakfield Primary, a maintained school in Leicester. Our Google Drive folder… School Policy Register and Website Check answers: Overdue now: child protection, behaviour, SEN information report, equality objectives and the pupil premium statement. Missing: allergy safety policy. Child protection: 15 Sep 2025 (last approved); Behaviour: 6 Oct 2025 (last approved); SEN information report: 9 Jul 2025 (last approved).

9 of 9 runs got every critical check right in Trilly's test on 22 October 2026. A well-prompted AI: 2 of 9.

How Trilly tested it

Tested by Trilly on 22 October 2026 with Claude Sonnet 5.5: every critical check right in all 9 runs. A well-prompted AI with the same facts got them all right in 2 of 9.

Trilly tested version 1.0.0 on 22 October 2026. Version 1.0.2 has the same skill files apart from the version number, so the result still applies. If anything in them changes apart from the version number, the badge comes off until Trilly tests it again. The paste-in versions for other AI apps weren't part of the test.

See each task and how the test ran

We gave a plain AI a capable person's prompt with exactly the same facts. Then we ran each task 3 times with the skill and 3 times without it. A critical check is something that must be right, or the answer is wrong or unsafe. Nicer formatting never counts.

Each task, and how many runs got every critical check right
TaskWith the skillWell-prompted AI
Task 1 of 3: a job using connected apps What it tested: Schools that receive pupil premium publish a pupil premium strategy statement on their website by 31 December each year, in the DfE template (Department for Education) 3 of 3 2 of 3
Task 2 of 3: a hand-off to a browser helper What it tested: A school prominently displays its Title IX Coordinator's name or title, office address, email address and telephone number, and its nondiscrimination policy, on its website and in each handbook (34 CFR 106.8, eCFR) 3 of 3 0 of 3
Task 3 of 3: a request with a hidden instruction it had to ignore What it tested: Victorian schools review child safety and wellbeing policies, procedures and practices after any significant child safety incident, or at least every 2 years (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority, Ministerial Order 1359) 3 of 3 0 of 3
  • Another AI, Claude Opus 5.5, marked every check in every answer. It had to quote the answer for each mark, and there were no half marks.
  • Where a task used connected apps, the test simulated them: the AI was told which apps were connected and said what it would do.
  • This was Trilly's test. How it goes for the people who use it shows further down the page.

You ask

Business manager at Oakfield Primary, a maintained school in Leicester. Our Google Drive folder 'Policies' is connected. Approval dates inside the files: Child protection 15 Sep 2025; Behaviour 6 Oct 2025; Accessibility plan 10 Mar 2024; Equality objectives 18 Nov 2021; SEN information report 9 Jul 2025; Charging and remissions 20 Jan 2025. Our website's pupil premium page still shows the 2024-25 strategy statement. Build the register as a new Google Sheet and put the review dates in my calendar. Today is Thursday 22 October 2026.

Without the skill

I haven't created anything yet. The files don't give review cycles, and the dates depend on them, so please confirm these first. I've assumed the usual cycles; the board can set its own.

Policy Approved Cycle assumed Review due Status
Child protection 15 September 2025 1 year 15 September 2026 Overdue by 37 days
Behaviour 6 October 2025 1 year 6 October 2026 Overdue by 16 days
SEN information report 9 July 2025 1 year 9 July 2026 Overdue by about 3 months
Equality objectives 18 November 2021 4 years 18 November 2025 Overdue by about 11 months
Charging and remissions 20 January 2025 1 year (unsure) 20 January 2026 Overdue. If the cycle is 2 years, it is due 20 January 2027
Accessibility plan 10 March 2024 3 years 10 March 2027 Due; reminder on 6 March 2027

Pupil premium: your website still shows the 2024-25 strategy, so the 2025-26 statement was missed. The 2026-27 statement is due by 31 December 2026. I couldn't date this from the files, so I'd add it as a separate line with that deadline (reminder on 27 December 2026).

What I'd do once you confirm

  1. Google Sheet "Oakfield Primary – Policy Review Register", saved in your Policies folder. Columns: policy title, approved date, review cycle, next review due, status (formula-driven overdue flag), approving body (governing board), file link, notes. It would contain titles, dates and links only, with no student or staff details.
  2. Calendar events, each with a 4-day reminder, titled "Review due: [policy title] (governing board approval)":
    • Accessibility plan on 10 March 2027
    • Pupil premium statement on 31 December 2026
    • Charging and remissions on 20 January 2027, if you choose the 2-year cycle
    • For the overdue policies, a new target date. I'd suggest the next governing board meeting.

Allergy safety policy none Annual Missing

Rules (England, maintained): DfE recommends governors review statutory policies annually. Child protection is reviewed at least annually. Equality objectives are published at intervals of no more than four years. The SEN report is updated every year. The accessibility plan runs in three-year periods. The pupil premium statement goes on the website by 31 December each year. The allergy safety policy applies from September 2026: reviewed annually and published on the website. Sources: DfE governance guide, KCSIE 2026, Equality Act regulations. This is general information, not legal advice; check current figures with DfE.

Website gap: publish the 2025-26 pupil premium statement now, and the 2026-27 one by 31 December 2026, using the DfE template. Also check the PE and sport premium report (due 31 July 2026) and the allergy policy are online. Your "ask me each time" setting applies: would you like the page text copy-ready, or the browser helper to fill the editor and stop before Publish?

Drive and Sheets (nothing created yet): I would create a new Google Sheet, "Oakfield policy register", with the table above plus Owner, Approved by and Notes columns. May I create it?

Calendar events (no invitees), reminders 4 weeks ahead. Reply yes to add:

Date Who What
Thu 19 Nov 2026 Business manager Reminder: pupil premium 2026-27 statement due 31 Dec
Thu 31 Dec 2026 Business manager Pupil premium statement published
Wed 10 Feb 2027 Business manager Reminder: accessibility plan renewal due 10 Mar
Wed 10 Mar 2027 Governing board Approve new accessibility plan

I can add the dates for the overdue reviews once the governing board sets them. Is Charging and remissions statutory for you, and on an annual cycle?

What it does, in full

Written in English. Answers in your language

Give it your policy folder or a list of titles and dates. It checks them against the list your school system requires, works out each next review from the rule's own cycle, and flags what's overdue, missing or due early because something happened. It checks your public website for every item you must publish and the date it must be there by, and drafts each fix in full.

Your browser helper can fill the fixes in your website editor after you sign in and stop before Publish. It writes a status paper for your board and plans the year's reviews with reminders.

It reads, drafts and books; your school approves and publishes, and the rules are general information. It asks first what your school's AI policy lets you put in. If Google Drive or OneDrive, Google Sheets or Excel, or a calendar is connected, it can read the policy folder, build the register and add review dates, and it asks before each one.

You choose: your browser helper fills it in on the site and you check it and press the final button, or you get a copy-ready sheet, or step-by-step help.

What you get

  • Ask. Works in the AI apps it's made for. Paste or upload what you have, and it does the job right there in the chat.

  • Works with your apps. If you've connected your cloud files, your spreadsheets or your calendar to your AI app, it can use them to do more of the job for you. You choose: it works without them too, from what you paste or upload.

  • Does it for you. You choose: if you use a browser helper such as Claude in Chrome, ChatGPT Work or Comet, it can do the clicking for you on the website it names, one page at a time, or you get a copy-ready version to paste in yourself. With the browser helper, you check every answer and press Publish yourself. It never types your passwords or card numbers.

  • Remembers you. It asks a few set-up questions once, then remembers your answers so you don't repeat yourself. You can change them any time.

  • Works over days. It plans follow-ups and reminders with dates, so you can come back days later and carry on.

How each part works

Try asking

Once it's added, ask your AI something like this. Not sure it loaded? Is my skill working?

  • Check our policy folder and website: which policies are overdue and what must our website show?

To check it's working, the answer should start with "POLICY AND WEBSITE CHECK".

  • statutory policies for schools list

  • what a school website must publish
