These terms apply to anyone who lists a skill on Trilly ("maker", "you"). They add to our terms of use and skill rules.
1. Becoming a maker
- You must be 18 or over and able to enter a binding contract.
- To sell paid skills you must set up payouts with Stripe, including the identity checks Stripe requires.
- Your public maker page must show your real name or a business name you're entitled to use.
- To get the verified badge, and for the maker tiers that need it, you confirm your identity with Stripe Identity. Stripe checks your ID; we only learn whether the check passed.
2. Your work stays yours
You keep ownership of your skills. You give Trilly a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:
- store, scan, review and test each version;
- add Trilly's reporting section and a per-copy code to each copy we deliver, and sign each copy so changes can be detected;
- add a licence, and a few visible marks unique to the buyer's licence, to each paid copy (a line in the skill's details, a short note at the end of SKILL.md, and a sentence in a file the skill doesn't read). They never change what the skill does;
- show the skill's listing, examples and screenshots on Trilly and in our promotion of Trilly;
- deliver the skill to people who add or buy it, and let them use it under the licence in our terms of use, or under the open licence you chose for it.
This licence lasts while the skill is listed, and after that for copies people already have.
3. What you promise
For every skill and every version, you promise that:
- you made it, or you have the right to sell it, and it doesn't break anyone's copyright, trade marks or other rights;
- it contains no one else's personal information or confidential material;
- it is described honestly: the listing matches what it does, and you haven't faked reviews, installs or results;
- it follows the skill rules and the law;
- any websites it contacts are declared, needed, and used only as described.
If any of this turns out to be untrue, you're responsible for the loss it causes, to the extent the law allows.
4. Our checks
Every version is checked before it's listed. Some checks are automated, and some use an AI service to review the skill's files (see our privacy policy). Some skills (money, betting, health, legal, and anything that acts in someone's accounts) also get our full review before Trilly approves them. We may ask for changes, add a plain warning, or decline a skill. We decide what is listed and how it's ranked. Rankings come from real use, as explained on how the numbers work.
5. Prices and fees
- You choose: free, a one-off price, or monthly. A paid skill must cost at least the minimum price shown on our pricing page.
- For each sale, Trilly keeps the commission shown on our pricing page. The rate depends on your maker tier, and it's lower on sales that come through your own referral link. Card fees are passed on at cost: Stripe's fee for each sale comes out of your share, never on top of the price. You receive the rest.
- Your studio shows the breakdown for every sale: the price, the card fee, Trilly's commission and your payout.
- We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before raising our commission.
- Publishing free skills is free. Selling paid skills needs a paid maker plan (Maker or above), shown on our pricing page before you subscribe. Plans renew monthly or yearly until you cancel.
- Prices are in Australian dollars. Trilly isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added to the prices buyers pay or to our fees.
6. Payouts through Stripe
- For now, you must be based in Australia to be paid. Payouts go to the Australian bank account you connect through Stripe, on Stripe's payout schedule.
- For new makers, money from each sale is held for 14 days before it's paid out.
- We may hold a payout while we look into a dispute, suspected fraud, or a serious breach of these terms.
7. Refunds and card disputes
- Faulty skills. If a buyer reports that your skill is faulty or not as described, we'll ask you to fix it, replace it or refund them, within the time set in our refund policy. If you don't sort it out in time, Trilly refunds the buyer.
- Refunds. If we refund a buyer under our refund policy or the law, your share of the refunded amount comes back out of your Stripe balance, and Trilly gives back its commission on that amount. Stripe doesn't return its card fee on a refund, so that fee stays a cost of the sale.
- Card disputes. Sometimes a buyer asks their bank to take a payment back instead of asking us for a refund. Trilly handles the dispute and pays the bank's dispute fees. While a dispute is open, your share isn't touched. If we win, nothing changes for you.
- If we lose a dispute, the buyer gets their money back, so we take back the sale price minus Trilly's commission, the same as a refund. The bank's dispute fees are Trilly's. It comes out of your Stripe balance, or your next sales if your balance is short. Your earnings page shows it as "Dispute lost: your share returned".
8. Tax
You're responsible for your own income tax, and for GST if you're registered for GST or required to be. Your Stripe dashboard has reports of your payouts. If you're not sure what applies to you, ask your accountant.
9. Supporting your skills
Reply to questions and bug reports within a reasonable time. Your response time and fix rate are shown publicly. If you stop maintaining a paid skill, tell us; we may stop new sales.
10. Takedowns
We may pause or remove a skill straight away if it could harm people, or if we get a valid copyright, licence or legal complaint (see our copyright and takedown page). We'll tell you why and, where it's safe, give you a chance to respond, fix it or send a counter-notice. Removed skills are listed on our public removals page. Repeated or serious breaches can mean losing your maker account.
Shared copies of your paid skills. Trilly looks for shared copies of paid skills in public places, such as public code on GitHub, and checks copies people send us. When we find one, we tell you. You authorise Trilly to ask the site to take the copy down for you and, after Trilly has checked the evidence, to stop updates and connector access for the licence it came from. We never act on a guess alone.
Connector only. For each paid skill you can choose that buyers get it only through their Trilly connection, with no offline copy to download. Set it in your studio, under "How buyers get it". Buyers whose AI app can't connect to Trilly then can't use that skill.
11. Leaving
You can retire a skill at any time in your studio, and closing your maker account retires all of your live skills. A retired skill comes off Trilly: nobody new can find, add or buy it, and you can't update it. Everyone who has it when it's retired keeps its last checked version, through their Trilly connection and as a download, with the licence they paid for, and Trilly tells them it's no longer updated. Monthly subscriptions to it are cancelled straight away, so nobody is charged again, and subscribers keep the version they have. A skill Trilly removes for safety (section 10) is different: it stops working for everyone at once, monthly subscriptions to it are cancelled, and each subscriber gets back the unused part of the period they paid for. That refund comes out of your share, like any refund (section 7).
