Link Copilot to Trilly

GitHub Copilot in VS Code onlyNot tried by Trilly yet

There are three Copilots, and only one can link to Trilly by itself today.

Steps

  1. Copy Trilly's address

Copy Trilly's address from the box below. You'll paste it in a moment.

    https://trilly.io/api/mcp

No key or password to copy: Trilly asks you to log in and say yes.

  2. Add Trilly in VS Code

In VS Code's Command Palette, run MCP: Add Server. Choose HTTP, paste the address and name it trilly.

From VS Code's docs: Copilot's MCP: Add Server box, with Type HTTP, URL https://trilly.io/api/mcp, Name trilly. Then pick where to save it.
  3. Log in and say yes

VS Code opens Trilly in your browser. Log in or join free, check what it will be able to do, and say yes.

  4. Add your first skill

In Copilot Chat's agent mode, ask: "find a Trilly skill for writing release notes", then "add that one".

Then: Ask as you normally would. Want it to use your email or calendar? Connect them in GitHub Copilot first, if your admin allows it.

Trilly hasn't tried linking from Copilot yet. If a step doesn't match what you see, tell us.

Connecting apps in GitHub Copilot
  • Ask your admin. Connections are set up in VS Code's mcp.json once allowed.
  • Checked 12 October 2026 on the app makers' own pages. Connected apps, explained

What you need

  • Microsoft Copilot (the free app and copilot.microsoft.com): can't link yet. It connects only to the services Microsoft lists, such as OneDrive, Outlook.com, Google Drive and Gmail.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot, at work: your organisation adds apps like Trilly, not you. Ask your IT team: there's a message for them below.
  • GitHub Copilot in VS Code: can link. On Copilot Business and Enterprise, an admin first turns on "MCP servers in Copilot", which starts off.

Can't link? Download skills and add them by hand.

On a work plan? Send this to your GitHub Copilot admin
Hi, could we allow Trilly in GitHub Copilot? On Copilot Business or Enterprise, please turn on "MCP servers in Copilot" so I can add Trilly in VS Code with this address: https://trilly.io/api/mcp. Trilly's guide: https://trilly.io/link/copilot

Microsoft 365 Copilot at work? Send this to your IT team
Hi, could we look at adding Trilly to Microsoft 365 Copilot? Trilly is a remote MCP server at this address: https://trilly.io/api/mcp It signs in with OAuth 2.0 and supports dynamic client registration, so each of us logs in to our own Trilly account. Microsoft's docs say a Copilot Studio agent can add it as a tool: Add a tool, New tool, Model Context Protocol, then OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic discovery. Trilly hasn't tried this with Microsoft 365 Copilot yet. Trilly's guide: https://trilly.io/link/copilot

If something goes wrong

VS Code doesn't show Trilly's tools

On Copilot Business or Enterprise, ask your admin to turn on "MCP servers in Copilot". It starts off.

I use the Copilot app, not VS Code

It can't link to Trilly yet. You can download a skill and use it in an app that can: see Can't link?, under What you need.

Checked against VS Code: add and manage MCP servers, GitHub Docs: Copilot and MCP and Microsoft Support: Copilot connectors on 17 October 2026, and Microsoft Learn: Copilot Studio and MCP servers on 29 October 2026. See your linked apps, and unlink them, in Settings, Linked AI apps.
